- ODU Online students must contact their assigned advisor.
- New transfer students attending classes on the main campus should contact either the transfer advisor in the college or the designated faculty advisor.

Athletics
The AT hold is the primary hold used by Athletics. Student-athletes are associated with their sport code in the administrative system beginning with orientation. This hold is placed by the athletic advising staff and used to prevent student-athletes or staff on campus from changing registration schedules for the student-athletes, ensuring full-time enrollment of at least 12 hours and fulfilling other University and NCAA requirements. The student must see one of the student-athlete advisors before making any schedule changes.

The Graduate School
All degree-seeking and post-baccalaureate (teacher licensure) graduate students admitted or readmitted since Fall 2010 are required to complete training in the fundamentals of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). This training must be completed prior to the completion of 12 semester hours. Students who do not complete the RCR training will have a hold preventing registration and graduation until the training is completed. Students can check DegreeWorks for the entry showing that the training has been completed.

The Senior Assessment (Senior Student Satisfaction Survey) is a University requirement for graduation. It must be completed during the semester in which the student plans to graduate and is available to students who have applied for graduation and are "pending" for graduation in the records of the Registrar's Office. Writing Placement and Support
This hold was placed on the records of students who transferred in credit for English 110C and were required to take the Writing Sample Placement Test (WSPT) prior to or during the first semester at the University. If they passed, they were to have met the initial writing requirement. If they did not pass, they were required to meet with a Writing Center counselor to review their test. If students did not take or had not reviewed the test at the end of their first semester, a hold was placed on registration for the next semester. This policy has been discontinued.
